We’ve had a couple sessions with Rob Bradstreet, our stunt coordinator. He’s really helping us break down and choreograph the fight scenes, with every move calculated for maximum awesomeness. He’ll also be assisting with the cowboy-through-window shot and the wire-pulls.

It’s also good having him around to keep me grounded. I sometimes come up with stuff that works in my head, but is physically impossible, or would look improbable even if we managed to execute it with movie magic.

Like I’ll say “Tex comes in the door and two vampires jump on him but as he falls he grabs a sword and lifts it and impales a vampire on it.”

And he gives me the sort of look one gives to stupid children. He wants to know how the hell that will work.

“It’s really fast,” I say. We still haven’t figured out that shot.

I’m really happy that the actors we cast are all fit and capable of the physical demands of the action sequences.

Here Rodrigo (Tex) and Svetlana (Elisabeta) practice the climactic fight. Svetlana is a former figure athlete and she’s built like an Amazon. She’s perfectly happy to be strapped to a pulley and yanked across the room on a rope. She seemed excited about it, even.

I can’t describe the thrill I get seeing these awesome fights unfold before my eyes, according to words that I wrote.

Like they said in Being John Malkovich:
