Here are some more pictures, mostly paintings, that help illustrate the visual style we’re going for. The Maxfield Parrish stuff is a little brighter and more colorful than we want, but I really admire his use of light and space as compositional elements. These are screenshots from the Spanish film Alatriste starring Viggo Mortensen. They did an amazing job of designing the shots to look like oil paintings from the period.
